MIDI contains notes and timing, not the original instrument sound.
Know what you’re getting
Best for a clear recording of one instrument, including piano chords. Full songs, drums, vocals over accompaniment, noise and reverb can produce extra or missed notes. Review the MIDI before using it. This is note transcription, not stem separation or a copy of the recording.
MP3 and WAV are supported when your browser can decode them. This page rejects files over 25 MB or 180 seconds rather than silently trimming them. Stereo is mixed to mono and resampled to 22,050 Hz for the model.
Private by construction
The file is read and processed on your device. There is no upload endpoint, account, analytics or saved history. Closing the tab clears the session. The page downloads its code and the Basic Pitch model; your audio is never included in those requests.
A 143.651-second stereo piano MP3 took 70.199 seconds to transcribe in our desktop test on November 5, 2026, excluding loading. Other recordings and devices will differ. Live loading and transcription progress appear above; keep this tab open.
Powered by Spotify Basic Pitch (Apache 2.0). Notes are exported as Standard MIDI with a fixed 120 BPM time base; the original note timing is preserved in seconds. No tempo or instrument identification is claimed.
Before you convert
Will the MIDI sound exactly like my MP3?
No. MIDI describes notes, timing and velocity. Playback uses a synthesizer. Original voices, effects and instrument timbres are not stored in the file.
Can I edit the download?
Open the .mid file in a DAW or MIDI editor to correct pitches, lengths and unwanted notes. The preview uses the same exported MIDI data.
Why did conversion fail?
An unreadable file, unsupported audio codec, unavailable model download or insufficient browser resources can stop conversion. The actual error appears beside the progress bar. Try a shorter, clear MP3 or WAV recording; no partial result is presented as complete.
